WhatsApp Testing New Notification Bubble Feature on Android

Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on a new feature for Android users. The feature introduces notification bubbles for easier messaging and multitasking.

According to reports by WABetaInfo, signs of this feature have been found in the Android version of WhatsApp. It is still under development and not widely available yet.

The notification bubble system is already supported by Android 10 and above. Similar features are also seen in other apps like Facebook Messenger.

With this update, WhatsApp users may see a floating bubble when they receive a new message. This bubble can appear on the home screen or while using other apps.

The bubble will show the contact or group profile picture. It will also include a small WhatsApp icon to identify the app source.

Users can tap the bubble to open a small chat window. This allows them to read and reply without opening the full WhatsApp application.

The feature is designed to improve multitasking. It helps users respond quickly while continuing other tasks on their phones.

For example, a user watching a video can reply to messages without closing the video app. This makes communication faster and more convenient.

WhatsApp is currently testing the feature internally. There is no official release date announced yet.

Before a full rollout, the feature is expected to be tested with beta users first. This helps the company fix issues and improve performance.

The update is part of ongoing efforts by WhatsApp to enhance user experience. The platform frequently tests new tools to make messaging easier and more flexible.

Recently, WhatsApp has also been working on other features, including sticker creation tools and subscription-related updates in different regions.

The notification bubble feature could change how users interact with messages on Android. However, it will only be available after successful testing and approval.
