Three, Including Children, Killed in Bajaur as Shell Strikes Home During Operation

Three civilians, including two children, were killed and two others injured when a mortar shell struck a house during a security operation in Bajaur, Pakistan, officials confirmed Wednesday.

The incident took place in Mamund Tehsil, at the home of a man named Ibrahim, said District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq. All the victims belonged to the same family, including Ibrahim’s wife and two children, while Ibrahim and another child were wounded.

Ibrahim recounted that his children had been playing outside during curfew hours when a mortar shell landed nearby. After calling them inside, another shell struck the house, injuring him, his wife, and the children. He criticized the operation, questioning how civilians could remain safe at home during such actions, and urged authorities to protect non-combatants.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that targeted operations under Section 144 were ongoing in Bajaur to safeguard residents. He pledged support for displaced families and called civilian casualties during counterterrorism operations “unacceptable, regardless of responsibility.”
