Some Tesla Cybertruck owners are voicing concerns about the rapid tire wear on their vehicles. One member of the Cybertruck Owners Club, who has driven just 6,251 miles, reported that their truck’s tires are already showing significant tread wear and may need to be replaced soon.
This owner, based in Colorado, found that the tread depth had worn down to 4/32 inches in the front and 5/32 inches in the rear, which is far below the original tread depths of 10/32 or 11/32 inches. According to TireRack, tires are considered worn out at 2/32 inches, and replacements are recommended at 4/32 or 5/32 inches in challenging conditions.

The Cybertruck is currently equipped with Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-season tires or Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT all-terrain tires. Similar premature wear issues have been reported by Rivian owners, who believe the vehicle’s weight and driving modes may be causing alignment problems that lead to faster tire wear.
Tesla’s Chill Mode, which reduces acceleration, could potentially help mitigate tread wear by lowering power output. However, despite using the more aggressive Beast Mode sparingly and avoiding off-road driving, the nearly 7,000-pound weight of the Cybertruck may be a key factor in the accelerated wear.
