This tall pace bowler, who has already taken 95 wickets in 48 games, is on the verge of becoming the fastest Pakistani player to reach 100 ODI wickets. The current record-holder for this achievement is Saqlain Mushtaq, a renowned Pakistani off-spinner, who achieved this milestone in 53 games.
For Shaheen to surpass Saqlain’s record, he needs to secure five wickets in his next four games. As of the latest available information, Afridi already overtook Mohammad Amir, a former Pakistani bowler, to claim the second-highest number of international wickets for Pakistan among left-arm pacers. This milestone was reached during the 18th World Cup match against Australia in Bengaluru.
