Saqib Chadarh's Bail Extended in Momina Iqbal Harassment Case

Saqib Chadhar, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Punjab Assembly, and his wife have received an extension in their interim pre-arrest bail until July 28 in a case involving allegations of cyber harassment filed by television actress Momina Iqbal. The order was issued by a sessions court during the latest hearing of the case.

During the proceedings, Saqib Chadhar appeared before the court along with his legal team, while his wife did not attend the hearing. The investigating officer from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) requested more time to complete the inquiry, stating that the investigation is still underway.

Accepting the request, Additional District and Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqi extended the interim bail of Saqib Chadhar and his wife until July 28. The court also instructed the investigating officer to submit an updated progress report at the next hearing so that the case can proceed based on the latest findings.

The NCCIA registered the case last month after actress Momina Iqbal lodged a formal complaint against Saqib Chadhar and his wife. The FIR includes several provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), including unauthorized access to information systems, unauthorized copying or transmission of data, offences against the modesty of a natural person, and cyberstalking.

In addition, the case invokes multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including criminal intimidation, destruction or concealment of evidence, acts committed with common intention, and abetment.

According to the FIR, Momina Iqbal alleged that Saqib Chadhar, his wife, and several known and unknown associates were involved in an organized campaign of cyber harassment, online stalking, blackmail, unlawful surveillance, defamation, and intimidation targeting both her and her family.

The actress claimed that the alleged harassment began after she declined Saqib Chadhar’s marriage proposal upon discovering that he was already married. She alleged that, following her refusal, she received repeated threats, attempts to gain access to her private data, violent content, and blackmail involving personal videos.

The complaint further states that the accused allegedly damaged her personal and professional reputation, disrupted a marriage proposal in 2023 by spreading false information, and recently intensified threats to leak private material, harm her and her fiancé, and interfere with her upcoming marriage. The investigation remains ongoing, and the court is expected to review the NCCIA’s progress during the next hearing on July 28.
