Hot and dry weather has returned across Punjab, including the provincial capital, Lahore, with temperatures rising and authorities urging citizens to take precautionary measures against the ongoing heat. The latest weather conditions have brought back intense sunshine after recent periods of relatively milder weather.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, strong sunshine has persisted since the morning, with daytime temperatures reaching around 37°C in many parts of the province. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 40°C during the day. The combination of high temperatures and dry weather has increased discomfort for residents, particularly during the afternoon when the heat is at its peak.
The Meteorological Department said there is currently no significant rain-producing weather system affecting Lahore or other parts of Punjab. However, local cloud development may result in partly cloudy conditions in some areas, with isolated locations likely to receive light rainfall over the coming days.
Forecasters said a new weather system is expected to enter Pakistan on July 2, bringing the possibility of rainfall to several districts of Punjab, including Lahore. The incoming system is expected to improve weather conditions and provide much-needed relief from the prevailing heat.
Officials expressed hope that the expected spell of rain will reduce temperatures and ease the intensity of the ongoing hot weather across the province. Citizens have been advised to continue following weather updates and take necessary precautions until cooler conditions return.
