Are The Punjab School Holidays Extended?

Punjab schools are set to reopen on August 24 as scheduled. The provincial government has rejected reports claiming that summer vacations could be extended due to ongoing rains.

Punjab School Education Secretary Mudassar Riaz clarified that educational activities across the province will resume from August 24. He said there is currently no proposal to extend the summer holidays.

The clarification comes after rumors spread on social media about a possible extension of the school holidays. Some online reports claimed that schools could remain closed until the end of August because of monsoon rains and weather conditions.

Officials said these reports are not based on any approved government decision. The existing school calendar remains unchanged, and students are expected to return to classrooms on August 24.

Parents, students and teachers have been advised to rely on official announcements from the Punjab School Education Department. Authorities have urged the public to avoid believing unverified information circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has directed school authorities to complete preparations before schools reopen. The instructions focus on cleanliness, safety and basic facilities for students.

School administrations have been directed to ensure proper cleanliness across school premises. Authorities have also been told to provide students with clean and safe drinking water.

Schools have further been instructed to clean water tanks and disinfect rooftops. Drainage systems must also be inspected to ensure they can handle rainfall during the monsoon season.

School heads have been asked to personally supervise the preparations. They must ensure that all safety, cleanliness and administrative requirements are completed before students return.

The preparations are particularly important because Punjab has experienced rainfall in several areas during the ongoing monsoon season. Schools are being advised to address potential safety and hygiene concerns before reopening.

For now, August 24 remains the official reopening date for schools across Punjab. Any change to the schedule would require a formal announcement from the provincial education authorities.

Students and parents should therefore prepare for the reopening according to the existing schedule. They should also continue checking official government channels for any future updates.
