[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced that the “Jail Bharo Tehreek (court arrest movement)” is set to kick off today, with hopes to counter the “attack on constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights” and the “economic meltdown” by the incumbent government.

On Twitter, the former prime minister stated that the PTI is planning to launch the Jail Bharo campaign for two reasons.

“One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights. “We are dealing with bogus FIRs and NAB cases, in-custody torture, and attacks on journalists and social media users,” wrote the PTI chief.

Khan went on to say that the second is against the economic meltdown brought on by a “cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth and gotten NROs for themselves while crushing the people, especially, the poor and the middle class, under the burden of spiralling inflation and rising unemployment.”

Following the filing of sedition charges against his party’s leaders, including Fawad Chaudhry, Azam Swati, and Shahbaz Gill, PTI Chairman Imran Khan declared “Jail Bharo Tehreek” on February 4.

The party’s senior leaders, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar, voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Tuesday in the first phase of the movement.

PTI senator Ejaz Chaudhry stated, “Jail Bharo Tehreek is the PTI’s next political plan, and about 200 leaders will surrender.”

According to Ejaz, the movement is also a protest against inflation, and arrests will be made in cities other than Lahore.

“The party will decide who and when to arrest, and this includes Imran Khan,” he said.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
