PTI Claims Abduction Of Sher Afzal Marwat In KP

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Sher Afzal Marwat, the Senior Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was reportedly apprehended on Monday while on his way to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, as per the claims of the former ruling party.

PTI, using its official communication channel, asserted that Marwat was taken against his will from Chakdara while en route to Bajaur for an upcoming worker’s convention slated for Saturday.

The party’s social media statement emphasized, “We insist on his immediate release… these coercive measures are ineffective and unacceptable. Attempts at pre-poll interference must cease without delay.”

PTI once again urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to promptly investigate the alleged abduction and unjust arrest.

Marwat’s arrest prompted protests among PTI supporters, leading to the shutdown of Chakdara Road.

This incident follows the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against Marwat and PTI members for organizing a worker’s convention in Swabi the previous Saturday. Authorities charged 21 local PTI leaders and others for violating Section 144.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898 empowers the district administration to impose a comprehensive prohibition on any unauthorized assembly, rally, gathering, protest, or assembly of more than five people.

Previously, Marwat had been granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in two cases. In October, he faced charges in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) for allegedly inciting the public against state institutions through social media.

In August, more than 90 PTI workers were arrested in various districts of K-P for staging rallies against the detention of the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
