Pakistan Railways has announced 45 contract-based vacancies for retired supervisory and technical staff in its Carriage & Wagon and Mechanical Loco departments. Eligible retired employees can apply for the positions until October 15, 2026.
The appointments will initially be made for one year. The contract may be extended for another year if required by the department. The maximum age limit for applicants is 62 years.
The vacancies are available in different technical categories and range from BPS-06 to BPS-14. Applicants must have the required qualifications and relevant work experience for the position they are applying for. The recruitment is specifically aimed at retired employees who previously worked in the advertised categories.
Pakistan Railways has announced 21 vacancies in the Carriage & Wagon Department. These include posts such as TXR/G-II, Foreman/Gr-I, TXR/Gr-II, Sub Engineer-II/Senior Chargeman, Mistry and skilled positions including C&W Fitter, Coach Builder and Welder.
Candidates for senior positions generally require a DAE in Mechanical Engineering along with several years of experience in rolling stock repair, maintenance or other relevant fields. Some lower-grade positions require Middle qualification with relevant technical experience.
Another 24 vacancies have been announced in the Loco Department. The positions include Foreman/Gr-I, Electrical Foreman Diesel Gr-I, AFO/Senior Chargeman, AEFO Diesel, FIC, JCM, S.E.E Diesel, Mistry and skilled Wireman and Fitter positions.
For several Loco Department positions, applicants must have a DAE in Mechanical Engineering and around 10 years of relevant experience. Certain Mistry and skilled positions require Middle qualification along with relevant technical experience.
Selected candidates will be paid according to their last pay drawn along with applicable allowances. The appointments can be made anywhere within the Pakistan Railways system, depending on departmental requirements.
Applicants must also pass a physical medical fitness examination at a Pakistan Railways hospital. Retired employees who were compulsorily removed, dismissed or retired on medical grounds are not eligible to apply.
Candidates are required to submit a typed application along with attested copies of their educational certificates, CNIC, Railway Identity Card or Experience Certificate, PPO, LPC and Service Certificate. Three recent passport-size photographs must also be attached.
Applicants must include three postal envelopes carrying their complete address and required details. A postal order of Rs. 500 is also required as the application processing fee.
Eligible candidates should send their applications to the Chief Personnel Officer, Pakistan Railways, Headquarters Office, Empress Road, Lahore. Applications must reach the designated office by October 15, 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Only candidates who meet the advertised eligibility requirements will be called for the next stages. Pakistan Railways has also stated that no TA/DA will be provided to candidates appearing for interviews or medical examinations.
