According to the synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over the majority of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is present over western Balochistan.

Under these circumstances, it is anticipated that the twin cities and most parts of the country will experience mainly cold and dry weather on Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday. Extremely cold weather is expected in northern parts and north Balochistan.

There is a likelihood of light rain/drizzle at isolated places in southwestern Balochistan and coastal areas of Makran. Additionally, dense fog/smog is expected to persist in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with increased intensity.

Fog Update for Punjab

Dense fog is expected to persist in various regions, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas during morning and night hours.

The dense fog/smog may lead to the closure of Motorways and disrupt normal vehicular movement on the National Highway and other inter and intra-city roads.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature is expected to range between 02-04 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday. Similarly, in Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature is anticipated to be between 04-06 degrees Celsius on the same days.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed across Pakistan in the last 24 hours, with dense fog observed in the plains.

Fog Update for Motorways

Dense fog has resulted in the closure of sections of Motorways, including Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Islamabad-Kallar Kahar, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Faisalabad-Multan, and Multan-Sukkur. Reduced visibility has also disrupted normal vehicular movement on other inter and intra-city roads, including the National Highway, and has affected flight operations and the schedules of passenger trains.

Leh remained the coldest place in the province, where the mercury dropped to 11 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 03 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 100 percent in the evening.
