The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has declined to disclose the confidential clinical details of a medical report prepared after former prime minister Imran Khan was brought to the hospital for examination and treatment.
In a press release issued on Saturday, PIMS said Khan was brought to the Islamabad hospital during the intervening night of August 20 and 21, 2026. The hospital said a medical assessment was carried out after his arrival.
PIMS said two specialists from Shifa International Hospital participated in the ophthalmological assessment. Other examinations were conducted by relevant specialists from PIMS.
According to the hospital, the clinical findings from the ophthalmological assessment were considered alongside the results of investigations carried out at PIMS. The medical information was then reviewed as part of the overall assessment.
A medical board comprising PIMS doctors subsequently consolidated the medical fitness report. The hospital said the report was prepared after considering the available clinical findings and examination results.
However, PIMS refused to disclose the confidential clinical contents of the report. The hospital said it was withholding the information in line with patient privacy requirements and directions issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The hospital did not provide further details about Khan’s medical condition, examination results or the conclusions contained in the medical fitness report.
The decision to withhold the details comes amid continued public and political interest in Khan’s health and medical treatment. His medical condition has recently been the subject of proceedings before the Supreme Court.
Khan was earlier transferred from Adiala Jail for medical assessment following a court order. His treatment and medical examinations have remained under close judicial scrutiny.
PIMS said its decision not to disclose the report’s clinical contents was based on confidentiality requirements. No further medical details were provided by the hospital.
