Karachi Traffic Police have announced a special traffic plan for August 22 to ensure smooth traffic flow during the 8 Rabi-ul-Awal processions across the city. The arrangements have been made to facilitate participants and reduce inconvenience for other citizens.
The main processions will begin from Nishtar Park and several other locations in Karachi. Traffic police have made special arrangements around major gathering points to manage the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, alternative routes will be designated for procession participants. Additional traffic personnel will also be deployed at different locations to regulate traffic and prevent major congestion.
Citizens planning to attend the processions by vehicle will be required to obtain special passes. The passes were available from the relevant central office between August 17 and August 20.
Applicants seeking passes were required to submit their vehicle registration card, national identity card and two photographs. Participants have also been advised to keep the original vehicle registration card and CNIC with them during the processions.
Traffic police have urged citizens to avoid procession routes where possible. Motorists have been advised to use alternative roads and follow instructions given by traffic officers deployed along the routes.
Additional traffic measures will remain in place throughout the day. Officials will closely monitor traffic around major procession routes, particularly areas surrounding Nishtar Park.
The special plan is aimed at maintaining traffic movement while allowing religious processions to proceed smoothly across Karachi.
Citizens have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional travel time due to expected congestion and road diversions.
