The food delivery rider who was assaulted during a viral road rage incident in Karachi’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA) has forgiven the accused after both parties reached an out-of-court settlement.
According to the DIG South Media Cell, the matter was resolved at Darakhshan Police Station after the rider decided not to pursue legal action. Police said the accused compensated the rider for the damage caused to his motorcycle and covered other financial losses resulting from the incident.
Following the compensation, the rider declined to register a First Information Report (FIR) and opted to settle the dispute amicably.
During the proceedings, the accused’s father told police that his son, Haseeb, had been under stress at the time of the incident and had a tendency to lose his temper, particularly when he believed motorcyclists were driving recklessly.
He assured authorities that he would counsel his son to remain calm and avoid similar confrontations in the future.
The incident drew nationwide attention after a video went viral on social media showing the accused allegedly attacking the delivery rider with a hockey stick following a minor collision between a car and a motorcycle in Karachi’s DHA.
Police said they identified the suspect through his vehicle’s registration number and contacted the food delivery company to trace the rider. The accused’s father later appeared at the police station, where both parties agreed to resolve the matter through mutual consent.
