Pakistan delivered a strong performance at the Asian Beach Games held in Sanya, China. The country secured two silver medals in wrestling and one bronze medal in kabaddi. This brought the total medal count for Pakistan to three.
Wrestlers Muhammad Inam Butt and Asad Ullah showed excellent form throughout the event. Both athletes reached their finals after winning multiple tough matches. However, they lost against strong Iranian opponents in the final rounds.
In the 80 kg wrestling category, Asad Ullah performed well in earlier stages. He defeated India’s Mor Sachin in the quarterfinal. He then overcame China’s Feng Lu in the semifinal. In the final, he faced Iran’s Ali Gholami. He lost the match 0–3 and secured a silver medal for Pakistan.
In the 90 kg category, Muhammad Inam Butt also impressed with his performance. He defeated Bahrain’s Magomed Sharipov in the quarterfinal. He then beat Mongolia’s Turbold Ganbold in the semifinal. In the final, he faced Iran’s Amirhossein Kavousi. Despite a strong effort, he finished with a silver medal for Pakistan.
In the 70 kg category, Muhammad Abdullah added another medal to Pakistan’s tally. He earned a bronze medal after losing in the earlier rounds against a competitor from Kyrgyzstan.
Officials from the Pakistan Wrestling Federation praised the athletes for their performance. President Arshad Sattar congratulated the wrestlers, coaches, and support staff. He said the players showed great determination and fighting spirit.
He added that although Pakistan missed out on gold medals, the athletes made the nation proud with their effort and discipline.
Secretary General Muhammad Inam Butt also appreciated the support of sports institutions. He acknowledged the role of the Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Sports Board, WAPDA, and Pakistan Army. He said their support has been important for improving sports in Pakistan.
