Authorities have officially announced qurbani slaughter rates for Eidul Azha, detailing charges for cows, goats, and camels during the three days of the religious festival. The rates were shared by the Empress Market Meat Merchants Association ahead of the busy Eid season.
According to the association, slaughtering charges for a cow or heifer on the first day of Eid will range between Rs18,000 and Rs20,000. The rates are usually highest on the first day because of increased demand and advance bookings made by families.
The fee for slaughtering a goat has been fixed at Rs4,000, while camel slaughter charges will range from Rs40,000 to Rs50,000. Butchers and meat service providers expect heavy workloads during Eidul Azha, especially in major cities where demand remains high.
The association further stated that slaughter rates are likely to decrease by nearly 30 percent on the second and third days of Eid. The decline is mainly linked to reduced pressure on butchers after the first day rush settles down.
For larger sacrificial animals weighing around two to 2.5 maunds, slaughtering costs are expected to remain between Rs14,000 and Rs18,000. Meanwhile, goats weighing close to 20 kilograms could cost between Rs5,000 and Rs10,000 for complete slaughter and meat-cutting services.
Sources said demand for experienced butchers rises sharply every Eidul Azha, leading to higher prices because of limited availability and time constraints. In several areas, service providers are also charging additional fees for cleanliness, waste disposal, and hygienic slaughter arrangements to ensure safe handling of sacrificial animals during the festive period.
