Sameer Anjaan Shares a Heartfelt Memory on The Lallantop Show

In a recent episode of The Lallantop Show, renowned Indian lyricist Sameer Anjaan recounted a deeply personal and moving moment he witnessed during the recording of the iconic Bollywood wedding song, “Dulhe Ka Sehra.”

“We were honoured to meet Nusrat Sahab when he visited Mumbai,” Sameer said. “When composer Nadeem asked if he could sing for our film, Nusrat Sahab replied, ‘I’ll only sing if I like the song.’ After hearing the composition, he agreed and asked us to book the studio.”

A Father’s Love Behind the Voice

What followed at the recording studio left everyone in awe. According to Sameer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was overcome with emotion each time he sang the line ‘Main Teri Baahon Ke Jhoolay Mein Pali, Babul’.

“Not once or twice — but over a hundred times, he cried,” Sameer recalled. “We asked him to take a break, but he insisted, ‘If I sing it today, all my emotions will be in it.’”

The powerful lyrics had struck a deeply personal chord — reminding Nusrat Sahab of his daughter, making the experience far more than just a professional assignment.
