Kejriwal, a prominent opposition figure to Modi in recent years, leads the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has governed New Delhi for a decade. He was apprehended by the financial crimes agency on corruption charges just weeks before India’s general elections commence on April 19.

Kejriwal was remanded to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a case concerning the city’s liquor policy until March 28. The agency’s lawyer asserted that Kejriwal played a central role in the case and required interrogation.
Following these developments, all key leaders of Kejriwal’s party have been detained in relation to the liquor policy case. Kejriwal, however, maintains that he has been falsely implicated in a fabricated case. The Modi-led federal government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) refute Kejriwal’s claims.
During the protest on Tuesday, Kejriwal’s supporters were stopped by police five kilometers from Modi’s residence, where they held a rally. Meanwhile, police employed water cannons in some parts of the city to disperse BJP supporters who were demanding Kejriwal’s resignation and attempting to march to the Delhi Secretariat. Several individuals were detained by the police during these incidents.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
