A significant development for Pakistan’s economy has emerged with the discovery of a new oil and gas deposit in Kohat. Located in the Kawargarh formation of the Razgir-I TAL block, this find promises to substantially enhance the country’s energy resources.
The newly discovered well is expected to yield 159 barrels of oil and 16.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This marks a crucial milestone as the well is jointly owned by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), and Pak Oilfields Limited (POL).
Drilling for this well commenced on January 9. According to an OGDCL spokesperson, the well, identified as Razgir Exploratory Well 1, was drilled to a depth of 3,774 meters. Preliminary results indicate a daily production of 16.4 million cubic feet of gas and 159 barrels of crude oil.

This discovery follows a similar find last month in the Razgir-I formation of the TAL block. The new reserves are expected to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s energy sector and promote regional growth.
The announcement of this find has been communicated to both the government and the stock exchange. The OGDCL spokesperson expressed optimism that this new production will usher in a new era of growth and prosperity for the region.
This positive development underscores Pakistan’s growing potential in the energy sector and the continuing efforts of local oil and gas companies to enhance the country’s resources.
