Rising Punjabi singer Inder Kaur was found dead under mysterious circumstances in India’s Punjab state, shocking fans and the local music industry. Her family has claimed that she was abducted days earlier after refusing a marriage proposal from a man they identified as Sukhwinder Singh.
According to Indian media reports, the singer’s body was recovered from the Neelon Canal and later identified by family members. Authorities shifted the body to Samrala Civil Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
A complaint submitted by her brother, Jotinder Singh, stated that Inder Kaur left her home around 8:30pm on May 13 in her Ford Figo car to purchase household items. However, she never returned, prompting the family to search for her and later contact police.
Relatives alleged that Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Bhalur, along with several accomplices, kidnapped the singer after she rejected his marriage proposal. Family members claimed the suspect became angry after Inder Kaur refused to marry him.
The family further accused Sukhwinder Singh of travelling from Canada to Punjab, abducting the singer at gunpoint, killing her, and dumping her body into the canal before fleeing back to Canada.
Relatives also raised concerns over the police response, claiming authorities failed to take immediate action despite a case being registered against the suspects on May 15. They alleged that delays in the investigation allowed the accused individuals to escape.
Jamalpur Police Station SHO Balbir Singh confirmed that a case had been registered and said police teams were conducting raids to arrest the suspects. He added that the investigation was continuing from multiple angles.
Inder Kaur had recently gained popularity in Punjabi music and social media circles. Her sudden death has left fans devastated and sparked widespread calls for justice.
