New Design Refresh for OnePlus Foldable Phone

Share

OnePlus is preparing to launch its first-ever foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, which was previously leaked in CAD-based renders. While the company officially confirmed the name, rumors suggested a delay in its late August launch due to a screen maker change.

Recent leaked renders of the OnePlus Open show significant design changes compared to the earlier renders. The closed aspect ratio now resembles the Oppo Find N2, and the phone appears to be smaller than originally envisioned, with the circular camera island taking up more space on the back panel. Despite the changes, it is still expected to be larger than the Oppo Find N2.

The device’s audio capabilities have been improved with the repositioning of speakers, and the frame has been tweaked for a more refined appearance. The inner display’s selfie camera has also been relocated from the top left corner to the top right.

On the back, the Hasselblad logo has been simplified to just an “H,” and a ToF (Time of Flight) or LiDAR sensor can be seen below it. These updates indicate a significant overhaul in design and features for the OnePlus Open.

The alert slider remains in place, and the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button, typical for foldable devices. The rear has a faux leather texture, offering a distinct look and feel.

As of now, a revised launch date has not been announced, but it is clear that the initial August launch will not take place.
