The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has announced plans to fully digitise its land records. The authority will also introduce a barcode-based system for tracking files.

The plans were discussed during a meeting at the KDA Civic Centre on Wednesday. KDA Director General Asif Jan Siddiqui met a delegation from the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP).
The delegation was led by CCP member Bushra Naz Malik. The meeting focused on institutional matters and measures to protect citizens’ interests.
Officials also discussed transparency in land-related cases. They reviewed ways to improve processes and address public concerns regarding property matters.
Bushra Naz Malik briefed the KDA director general about the CCP’s responsibilities. She highlighted its role in promoting fair competition and preventing anti-competitive practices.
She also discussed the commission’s efforts to protect consumer rights. According to officials, the CCP will continue raising public awareness about land-related issues.
The commission will also address complaints submitted by citizens. These efforts are aimed at improving public understanding and access to relevant complaint mechanisms.
Siddiqui said the KDA is digitising its land records in phases. The authority is also developing a secure digital archive for public access.
The planned digital archive could allow citizens to obtain property information remotely. It is also expected to improve record preservation and reduce administrative delays.
