Nation Observes 16th Death Anniversary of Former PM Shaheed Benazir Bhutto

A significant number of PPP workers and leaders from all corners of the country are gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Larkana district, the focal point for today’s main event.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and other leaders are slated to address the assembly, paying homage to the enduring legacies of Shaheed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, recognizing their profound sacrifices for democracy and the nation.

The tragic incident that claimed Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s life occurred on this day in 2007, as she left the venue following a significant public address at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. Stringent security measures have been implemented to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the commemorative events.

The Sindh government has declared a public holiday in the province as a mark of respect.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in his message on the 16th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, emphasized her historical significance as the first democratically elected woman prime minister in the Islamic world and an esteemed international leader. He described her as not just a historical figure but a living movement and a radiant torch, often referred to as the “Daughter of the East.”
