The nation enthusiastically observes the 147th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, today.

The day commences with gun salutes in the federal and provincial capitals, followed by a dignified changing of the guard ceremony at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi.

Esteemed officials will lay wreaths and offer Fatiha at the mausoleum as part of official ceremonies held nationwide to honor Quaid’s life, political struggles, and pivotal role in the establishment of Pakistan.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah holds a revered place in Pakistan, acknowledged as the inaugural governor-general and the founding father of the nation. Widely referred to as Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah, he assumed significant responsibilities upon the creation of Pakistan.

Tasked with overseeing the welfare of numerous Indian immigrants and establishing a functional government, Jinnah took the helm of a nascent and turbulent nation. Notably, he grappled with the challenges of governance while battling tuberculosis, exhibiting unwavering commitment.

Before ascending to the role of governor-general, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a trained barrister, had a distinguished legal career. He played an active role in the Indian National Congress, emerging as a key figure in the subcontinent’s struggle for independence from colonial rule.

By 1940, Jinnah, recognizing the imperative of safeguarding the rights of Muslims, advocated for the creation of a separate Muslim State to prevent their marginalization in the newly formed Indian state. His persistent efforts and resolute struggle culminated in the establishment of Pakistan, marking a triumphant moment for the nation.

Jinnah’s profound leadership endeared him to the people, prompting the declaration of his birthday, December 25, as Quaid-e-Azam Day. This occasion is commemorated in various ways across Pakistan, with the national flag ceremoniously raised at governmental and non-governmental buildings. Formal events are also integral to the public holiday, reflecting the enduring legacy of a beloved leader.
