The Ministry of National Health Services and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have signed an agreement to strengthen Pakistan’s Hepatitis C elimination efforts. The MoU focuses on improving digital systems for better healthcare management.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of NADRA on Thursday. It marked an important step toward modernizing health data systems in the country.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and NADRA Chairman Muhammad Munir Afsar attended the event. Officials from both institutions also participated in the ceremony.
Under the agreement, NADRA will work with the Ministry of Health to develop an integrated digital data system. This system will support patient registration, verification, and tracking.
The new platform will also enable real-time data sharing between health departments. Officials said this will improve transparency and speed in healthcare services.
The government aims to use this system for the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program. The program targets better monitoring and more effective treatment delivery.
Speaking at the ceremony, Syed Mustafa Kamal said NADRA will play a key role in building a strong digital health system. He said the collaboration will improve monitoring and service delivery across Pakistan.
He added that the Hepatitis C elimination initiative is a major national health project. It aims to reduce the disease burden in the country.
Pakistan is among the countries most affected by Hepatitis C worldwide. Health experts say stronger systems are needed to control its spread.
The minister said the government is committed to eliminating Hepatitis C by 2030. He emphasized early screening, diagnosis, and treatment as key steps.
He also said early detection can help prevent severe health complications. The government is taking practical measures to support this goal.
