NADRA rolls out digital service for birth and death registrations

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced an online facility allowing citizens to register births and deaths without visiting union councils. This initiative, part of the “Digital Pakistan” vision, lets users submit information directly to their respective union councils through the Pak ID mobile application.

Initially, the service is available in three districts: Chakwal (71 union councils), Jhelum (44 union councils), and Nankana Sahib (65 union councils). NADRA plans to expand the system nationwide in phases, enabling people across the country to benefit from the digital process.

Alongside this, NADRA’s Pak-Identity portal offers various online services, including CNIC renewals, reprints, and modifications. However, first-time CNIC applications still require in-person visits to ensure official verification.

To streamline identity registration, NADRA has simplified procedures and increased accessibility through its digital platforms.

Fee Structure for CNIC Services:

  • Executive: PKR 2,500 – 7 days processing
  • Urgent: PKR 1,500 – 15 days processing
  • Normal: PKR 750 – 30 days processing

This move marks a significant step toward modernizing public services, reducing hassle for citizens, and promoting efficiency through technology.
