In a dramatic turn, TikTok has gone dark for 170 million U.S. users after being removed from Apple and Google’s app stores on January 18. This action occurred just ahead of a federal law aimed at banning the app, leaving users with a message that read, “A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the US. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now.”

The uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future has led some prominent figures to offer to buy the app, including YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast. On January 14, he tweeted, “Okay fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned,” which quickly went viral and sparked hope among fans.

MrBeast later tweeted that many billionaires had contacted him about the proposal, hinting at ongoing discussions. In a follow-up TikTok video, he shared, “Just got out of a meeting with a bunch of billionaires, TikTok, we mean business.”

As the ban deadline approaches, fans eagerly await updates. When asked about the potential purchase, MrBeast responded cryptically, “Can’t say anything right now, stay tuned.”

TikTok’s message also mentioned that President-elect Donald Trump may play a role in its future. It stated, “We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office.” Trump suggested he might grant TikTok a 90-day reprieve to negotiate a deal to avoid the U.S. ban.

As the fate of TikTok remains uncertain, 170 million U.S. users wait for updates, with MrBeast urging, “stay tuned” for both his next moves and TikTok’s potential future in America.
