Dubai experienced unprecedented heavy rainfall, leading to widespread disruptions in flight operations that left many, including Pakistani cricketers, stranded at the airport under challenging conditions.
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Misbahul Haq and player Kamran Akmal were among the Pakistani nationals caught in the upheaval while transiting through Dubai en route to the United States. Both faced long delays due to the severely impacted flight schedules, contributing to a taxing ordeal.

Misbahul Haq shared his frustrations on social media, revealing the extensive hours spent queuing to speak with airport staff, underscoring the inadequate support and lack of accommodation for those stuck. He posted about the plight of “thousands of passengers” who were stranded without sufficient hotel arrangements, highlighting a significant lack of organization and assistance at the airport.
Kamran Akmal also voiced his discontent with the handling of the situation by an Emirati airline on his social media account.
Additionally, over fifty Pakistani travelers faced dire conditions at Kuwait airport after their journey from Madinah via Kuwait was interrupted by the closure of Dubai airport. Left without proper support or accommodations by the airline, these passengers, including elderly women, children, and the ill, were forced to sleep on the airport floor. Reports indicated that while Indian and Nepali passengers received hotel accommodations, the Pakistani passengers received no such support, and appeals to Pakistani consulate authorities in Kuwait went unanswered.
