Over 500,000 Students Fail Matric Exams 2025 Across Pakistan

More than 500,000 students failed the 2025 Matric Exams across Pakistan, according to a report issued by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen. The report has raised serious concerns about the country’s education system and student performance.

The Matric Exams results showed that Punjab recorded the highest number of failed students among all provinces. More than 358,000 students in Punjab were unable to pass the examinations this year.

Officials said the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore alone reported 87,419 failed students. The figures highlighted major academic challenges faced by students in the province.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, around 80,558 students failed out of 444,000 candidates who appeared in the Matric Exams. Education experts said the results reflect weaknesses in preparation and classroom learning.

Meanwhile, nearly 51,000 students failed in Sindh out of approximately 450,000 candidates. Authorities are now facing pressure to improve educational standards and examination systems.

The Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Quetta also shared concerning statistics. According to the report, 9,797 students failed among 78,839 candidates who appeared in the exams.

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education reported that 15,798 students out of 137,000 candidates could not pass the examinations.

Education experts described the overall Matric Exams results as alarming. They said urgent reforms are needed to improve the quality of education in Pakistan. Experts pointed to weaknesses in teaching methods, outdated curriculum structures, and lack of academic support for students.

They also stressed the importance of better teacher training and modern learning techniques. According to analysts, students need stronger guidance and improved classroom environments to perform better in future examinations.

Experts further suggested that examination systems should be reviewed to ensure fair assessment and effective learning outcomes. They warned that failure rates could continue to rise if authorities do not take immediate action.

The report has sparked debate among parents, teachers, and education officials across the country. Many believe that long-term reforms are necessary to improve academic standards and reduce failure rates in future Matric Exams.
