Lahore: Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting University Student Under False Promise of Marriage
LAHORE – Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a university student over a period of two years under the false pretense of marriage.
According to Qila Gujjar Singh police, the suspect—identified as Babar—initially met the victim, an MPhil student at a private university, via social media. He allegedly lured her into a relationship by promising to marry her, a promise he never intended to fulfill.

The suspect is accused of repeatedly abusing, threatening, and physically assaulting the student during the two-year period. Following orders from senior authorities, Babar was arrested and has been handed over to the Gender Cell for further investigation.
Police officials stated that no leniency will be shown to individuals involved in the sexual exploitation of women and children.
This case comes months after another serious allegation in Lahore, where a university student filed a gang rape complaint involving multiple suspects, including one who was reportedly a friend of the current accused. That case was also registered at the Women’s Police Station under relevant sections of the law.
Authorities urge the public to report such incidents and assure that action will be taken against all perpetrators involved in gender-based violence.
