Although the email appeared to originate from Switzerland, the investigation suggests it was sent from within Pakistan. Colonel (retd) Khalilur Rehman, Malik Riaz’s security officer, filed the complaint stating that the threatening email, sent on January 12, demanded cryptocurrency in exchange for the safety of Riaz and his family.
The email also referenced Riaz’s relatives living in Gulf and Western countries, warning their lives were at risk. Additionally, footage revealed an unknown individual visiting the vicinity of Malik’s daughter’s home, capturing images and videos of the property.
