Latest Windows 11 Update Renders PCs and Laptops Unusable

Microsoft has issued a warning to users about potential issues arising after the installation of the KB5043145 preview update for Windows 11. This update, released in September 2024, was intended to fix several problems, including freezes in Microsoft Edge and the Task Manager. However, after its release, new problems emerged for users running Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2, including systems entering reboot loops or freezing altogether.

Some users have reported multiple restarts, freezes with blue or green screens, and automatic activation of the Automatic Repair tool. In certain cases, BitLocker recovery has also been triggered, requiring additional user input to unlock the system.

Microsoft advises customers experiencing boot issues after the KB5043145 update to submit feedback via the Feedback Hub and is actively investigating the problem. The company plans to release an update with more details soon.

This issue follows similar boot and freeze problems from previous updates, such as the Windows Server 2019 issues in August 2024 and a dual-boot Secure Boot bug affecting Linux systems. In July, some devices booted into BitLocker recovery due to security updates, a problem that Microsoft addressed in August. A restart loop caused by the June 2024 KB5039302 preview update was also resolved.

Microsoft continues to monitor and work on boot-related issues to ensure stability across different updates.
