The PC version of GTA V has been demonstrated running on an iPhone 18 Pro Max. The test used Vapor, an experimental project for Apple devices.
Vapor is designed to run PC and Mac games on Apple hardware. It uses translation technologies to run software not originally developed for iOS.
Developer StephenDev0 published the benchmark results on September 27. The test showed GTA V reaching different frame rates across the benchmark scenes.
During the city-driving section, the game averaged 66 frames per second. Other sections recorded an average of around 80 FPS.
The test was performed at a resolution of 1080p. It used DirectX 11 for the graphics API.
Texture quality was configured to High during the test. FXAA and 16x anisotropic filtering were also enabled.
Population density was set at 75 percent. Distance scaling was configured at 50 percent.
Sharp shadows were enabled during the benchmark. MSAA was turned off, while most other graphics settings remained at Normal.
GTA V does not have a native version for the iPhone. Vapor provides a way to run software originally developed for PC and Mac.
The project relies on translation technologies, including JIT. These technologies allow software designed for other platforms to operate on Apple hardware.
This approach can create additional processing overhead. Native games are generally designed specifically for the hardware and operating system.
The benchmark therefore does not represent native GTA V performance on iOS. It demonstrates what the game can achieve through the Vapor project.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip. The device also includes an upgraded cooling design.
The cooling system is intended to support sustained performance during demanding workloads. This is particularly relevant when running graphically intensive PC games.
Some reports have compared the benchmark results with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650. That graphics card was launched as an entry-level desktop GPU in 2019.
However, such comparisons require caution. The available benchmark does not provide a controlled test between identical hardware conditions.
It also does not include detailed power measurements or frame-time data. These factors can affect how different devices perform during gaming.
The Vapor project is still under development. Its developer has indicated that some minor issues remain unresolved.
The current benchmark should therefore not be considered final performance. Future software updates could change the game’s performance on Apple devices.
Despite these limitations, the results demonstrate the capabilities of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The device can currently run the PC version of GTA V above 60 FPS.
The test achieved this performance at 1080p through Vapor. This is notable because the game requires additional translation to operate on iOS.
The results also highlight the growing ability of modern mobile hardware to handle demanding software. However, actual performance may vary across different scenes and settings.

For now, the benchmark provides an early look at PC gaming through Vapor. Further development will determine how stable and consistent the experience becomes on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
