Lahore and various districts of Punjab are expected to experience unstable weather conditions over the next few days as authorities issue warnings about rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across the province.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a weather advisory indicating that a new weather system is entering Punjab and is likely to remain active until June 5. The forecast suggests that several areas could receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and gusty winds, potentially affecting daily activities and travel plans.
According to the alert, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jhang, and nearby districts are among the areas expected to experience intermittent rain showers along with thunderstorm activity. Weather experts have warned that wind speeds may increase during storms, creating hazardous conditions in some locations.
In response to the forecast, PDMA Director General has instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners throughout Punjab to remain fully prepared for any emergency situation. Relevant government departments have been directed to stay on high alert and ensure the availability of resources needed to address weather-related incidents promptly.
Authorities have also advised the public to exercise caution during the expected weather spell. Citizens have been urged to avoid standing in open areas during thunderstorms and lightning and to seek shelter indoors whenever severe weather develops. Officials emphasized that following safety guidelines can help reduce the risk of injuries and accidents.
The warning is particularly important for farmers, who have been encouraged to take protective measures for crops, livestock, and agricultural equipment. Strong winds and rainfall could negatively impact farming activities in several regions.
Meanwhile, tourists planning trips to northern areas have been advised to stay informed about changing weather conditions and monitor official updates regularly. The PDMA has also reminded citizens that its emergency helpline, 1129, remains available for assistance.
As the weather system moves across Punjab, residents are being encouraged to remain vigilant and prepared for potentially challenging conditions in the days ahead.
