The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Rates by 7 percent, with the revised charges taking effect from July 5, 2026. According to an official notification, the updated toll rates will remain in force until April 23, 2027.
The increase has been introduced under the concession agreement between the NHA and Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The agreement covers the rehabilitation, resurfacing, and modernization of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) to improve travel conditions and maintain the country’s busiest motorway.
Under the revised Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Rates, motorists driving cars, jeeps, and taxis will now pay Rs1,430 for the full motorway journey. The toll for wagons has been increased to Rs2,390, while coasters will be charged Rs3,350.
Similarly, buses using the motorway will now pay Rs4,770. The revised rate for two- and three-axle trucks has been set at Rs6,210, while articulated trucks will be required to pay Rs7,980. The updated rates have been calculated based on revised per-kilometre charges for each vehicle category.
The NHA said the revised Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Rates are part of efforts to support ongoing maintenance and infrastructure improvement projects on the M-2 motorway. Officials believe the investment will help ensure safer travel, better road conditions, and improved facilities for commuters.
Motorists planning to travel between Lahore and Islamabad are advised to review the new toll schedule before beginning their journeys to avoid inconvenience at toll plazas. The revised charges will apply to all eligible vehicles using the motorway from July 5, 2026 onwards.
The Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Rates revision reflects the government’s continued focus on maintaining the country’s motorway network through long-term infrastructure upgrades. While commuters will face slightly higher travel costs, authorities say the additional revenue will contribute to the operation, rehabilitation, and modernization of one of Pakistan’s most important transportation corridors, ensuring smoother and safer travel for millions of road users.
