Lahore Announces Traffic Advisory for Pakistan-Australia ODI

The Lahore Traffic Police has announced a detailed traffic management plan for the second One Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Australia at Gaddafi Stadium, aiming to ensure smooth traffic movement and effective security arrangements for spectators and residents.

According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Ali Raza Shirazi, extensive preparations have been finalized to manage the expected increase in traffic around the stadium and surrounding areas. The traffic plan has been designed to minimize inconvenience for commuters while facilitating cricket fans attending the match.

To implement the arrangements, more than 1,000 traffic wardens will be deployed across Lahore. Additional personnel, including Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and traffic inspectors, will also be stationed at important intersections, major roads, and alternative routes to maintain order and ensure smooth vehicle flow.

The CTO stated that special measures have been taken to quickly respond to traffic disruptions. As part of these efforts, 10 forklifts and five breakdown recovery vehicles will remain on standby to remove stalled or improperly parked vehicles and help prevent congestion on key routes.

For the convenience of cricket enthusiasts, authorities have designated four parking areas near the venue. These parking facilities are intended to provide spectators with easier access to Gaddafi Stadium while reducing pressure on surrounding roads.

Regarding road closures, the traffic police clarified that major arteries of the city, including Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg, will remain open throughout the match. However, brief traffic stoppages may occur during the movement of players, team officials, and security convoys.

The CTO assured citizens that no major road will be completely shut down. Any temporary diversions introduced for security purposes will be removed immediately after team movements are completed, helping to keep disruptions to a minimum and ensuring a smoother travel experience for the public.
