Kashmiris Worldwide Unite for Kashmir Black Day, Denouncing India's Ongoing Occupation

On October 27th, Kashmiris around the world came together to observe Kashmir Black Day, fervently denouncing India’s ongoing illegal occupation of their homeland. This solemn occasion harks back to October 27, 1947, when Indian forces, in contravention of the principles of the Partition Plan, forcibly seized Jammu and Kashmir against the expressed will of the Kashmiri people.

In Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, a complete shutdown was observed as a potent symbol of protest.

Simultaneously, individuals worldwide, including those in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, engaged in protest marches, rallies, and seminars to vociferously condemn the Indian Army’s invasion on that fateful day in 1947 and the subsequent revocation of Kashmir’s special status by the Modi-led government on August 5, 2019.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar passionately called upon the international community to take substantive actions in holding India accountable for its actions in occupied Kashmir.

He emphasized that since August 5, 2019, there has been an unrelenting effort to impose Indian culture and influence in Kashmir, thereby disempowering the local population within their own land.

In a Twitter statement, he conveyed, “As we mark today the 76th anniversary of India’s occupation of Kashmir, my thoughts are with the resilient and brave Kashmiri people who continue to yearn for their due rights. Let us remember their unwavering spirit, and, rest assured, Pakistan stands firmly by their side.”

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also voiced his unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people and vehemently condemned the ongoing Indian atrocities in the held valley. He expressed, “On this Kashmir Black Day, we stand with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters who have shown great courage against illegal Indian occupation for 76 years. Pakistan pays tribute to their enduring struggle and resilience. The world must open its eyes to the human rights abuses in…”

The Indian occupation has relentlessly pursued its goal through a series of measures, including manipulating electoral constituencies, adding non-Kashmiris to voter lists, granting domicile certificates to outsiders, and introducing new laws concerning land and property ownership.

The international community’s attention remains focused on the ongoing struggle for justice and self-determination by the Kashmiri people, who continue to persevere despite the challenges they face.
