Islamabad Police to Recruit 9,000 Personnel in Major Hiring Drive

Islamabad Police has announced plans to recruit 9,000 new personnel as part of a major expansion aimed at strengthening law enforcement and improving policing across the federal capital.

Speaking at a press conference, Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said the recruitment drive will include vacancies for Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), Direct Inspectors, and several other ranks.

The IGP said the large-scale hiring is necessary because many serving officers are approaching retirement, creating the need for a younger and more active workforce to support policing and field operations.

Alongside the recruitment initiative, Rizvi announced further expansion of the Islamabad Police’s electric vehicle fleet. After recently inducting 50 electric patrol vehicles, the department plans to add another 50 EVs to strengthen police patrol operations.

He also revealed that the Islamabad Traffic Police will receive 40 electric patrol vehicles to improve traffic management, road safety, and emergency response across the city.

The latest announcement follows the department’s ongoing efforts to expand its workforce. Last month, Islamabad Police advertised vacancies for executive and ministerial staff, including ASIs, Constables, Band Staff, Mounted Police, Assistants, Production Assistants, Stenotypists, Data Entry Operators, Upper Division Clerks (UDCs), and Lower Division Clerks (LDCs).

Officials say the combined recruitment and modernization initiatives are intended to enhance public safety, improve operational efficiency, and equip Islamabad Police with the resources needed to meet the growing demands of the capital.
