Islamabad Metro Bus Service Suspended Over Protest Fears

The Islamabad Metro Bus service has been temporarily suspended due to concerns over a possible protest by government employees, officials confirmed on Friday. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure following reports that demonstrations could take place in the federal capital.

According to officials, authorities decided to halt Metro Bus operations to avoid any disruption or damage that could arise during the expected protest activity. The suspension affects thousands of daily commuters who depend on the service for travel between different parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The sudden closure created difficulties for passengers, many of whom rely on the Metro Bus network as an affordable and convenient means of transportation. Commuters were forced to seek alternative travel arrangements, leading to delays and increased transportation costs.

Officials said the suspension was implemented purely as a preventive step after intelligence and administrative reports suggested that government employees were preparing to stage demonstrations against the government. However, no timeline has yet been announced for the restoration of regular Metro Bus operations.

Government employees’ leader Rahman Bajwa also commented on the matter, stating that the abrupt closure of the Metro service was a decision made by the government itself. He said the move was intended to protect public property and national assets in the event of any protest activity.

Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the situation before deciding when to resume Metro Bus services. Until then, commuters are advised to use alternative transport options and stay updated through official announcements regarding the reopening of the service.
