Once the former premier came before the judge under heavy security nearly four months after the shooting while still recovering from the wounds, ATC judge Raja Jawad Abbas announced the verdict.
In order to avoid any unfavourable circumstances, a number of PTI leaders and employees climbed over the barriers put up by security personnel and entered the courthouse.
After protests that broke out after the Pakistani Election Commission disqualified the PTI leader in the Toshakhana issue, the Islamabad police had arrested the PTI president and numerous party members on terrorism-related charges in October of last year.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against the party leaders and workers, the protestors threw stones at the police and FC representatives, injuring numerous people.
In the meantime, a financial court in the forbidden funding issue also authorised his pre-arrest bail. Rakhshanda Shaheen, a special judge, announced the decision. The PTI leader arrived at the federal capital’s judicial complex earlier in the day amidst heavy security and a sizable turnout of party supporters.
While he recovered from the gunshot wounds he sustained in an attempted murder in Wazirabad, Mr. Khan made his first appearance before the court over four months later.
Special prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi urged the court to revoke Mr. Khan’s bail during the hearing on Tuesday, claiming that he was not complying with the investigators.
Imran Khan has a criminal case pending against him that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is looking into after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) uncovered anomalies in the party money in August of last year. Eventually, the ECP forwarded the case to the FIA for additional inquiry.
A district and sessions court rejected the PTI chairman’s motion on Monday, citing security concerns, to move the court hearing the Toshakhana case and an attempted murder case against him to the judicial complex.
Further Sessions The motion was denied by Judge Zafar Iqbal because it was the first time a court had been petitioned to modify the location of its hearings, according to Judge Iqbal. He stated that he would not be transferring the proceedings and gave Mr. Khan till Tuesday to appear before him after approving a one-day extension of his bail.
