The federal government has revised petroleum levy rates, reducing the levy on petrol while increasing the levy on high-speed diesel, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.
Under the new adjustment, the petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.34 per litre, bringing it down from Rs116.08 to Rs106.74 per litre. Officials say the revision reflects changes in overall fuel pricing structure and associated cost components.
In contrast, the levy on high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs8.67 per litre. The rate has been raised from Rs44.59 to Rs53.26 per litre, marking a notable upward adjustment in diesel taxation.
The notification also highlights revisions in freight margins. The freight margin on petrol has been reduced by Rs4.45 per litre, while the margin on high-speed diesel has been cut by Rs2.01 per litre, reflecting adjustments in transportation-related costs.
However, ancillary costs and duties show mixed changes. On petrol, these charges have been increased by Rs9.30 per litre, while on diesel they have been reduced by Rs9.57 per litre, indicating a balancing approach in overall pricing components.
Officials confirmed that the dealers’ margin for both petrol and high-speed diesel remains unchanged at Rs8.64 per litre. Meanwhile, levy rates for other petroleum products such as kerosene oil, light diesel oil, high octane, and furnace oil have also been specified under the updated structure.
