The general elections for the Punjab Assembly will be place on April 30, according to the ECP, and the returning authorities will publish a public notice on March 11.

The electoral body further stated that candidates can submit nomination papers from March 12 to March 14, with the papers being scrutinised on March 22.

Also, on April 6, the ECP will distribute election symbols to candidates.

Political parties must also submit a priority list of reserved seats to the returning officers by March 14, according to the electoral watchdog.

The ECP issued the poll schedule after President Dr. Arif Alvi stated that the elections in Punjab would take place on April 30, just hours after the electoral body proposed poll dates.

The ECP advised in a letter to the president that he choose a day between April 30 and May 7, 2023, soon after Eid, noting that the commission would be ready to discharge its constitutional and legal tasks once the date of the polls was determined.

The electoral commission acted just a few days after the Supreme Court attempted to resolve the polls problem, ordering the president and K-P governor to fix the date for elections in the province after consulting with the ECP.
