ATC Takes Strict Action: Aleema Khan’s Arrest Warrant Reissued

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has once again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in connection with the PTI protest case from November 26. The court’s decision follows Aleema’s repeated failure to appear despite multiple summons, signaling the judiciary’s insistence on accountability in politically sensitive cases.

The PTI protest case revolves around alleged violations during the Islamabad gathering in late 2022, where party members and leaders were accused of creating public disturbances and obstructing law enforcement. Aleema Khan’s involvement has drawn particular attention, given her prominent role in PTI’s public activities during the protests.

A few days back, a similar warrant had been issued, but Aleema was granted temporary relief after presenting medical and travel-related exemptions. With her continued absence, the court has emphasized that such delays can no longer be accommodated.

The ATC has directed authorities to ensure Aleema Khan’s presence at the next hearing, warning that failure to comply will result in immediate enforcement of the non-bailable warrant. Legal experts observe that the ATC warrant for Aleema Khan adds another layer of pressure on PTI’s leadership, reflecting the ongoing scrutiny of party figures linked to past protest activities.

Aleema has not publicly commented on the fresh warrant, but sources within PTI suggest she may pursue protective bail to avoid arrest. The reissued warrant underscores the judiciary’s firm stance on ensuring that PTI members are answerable for their roles during the November 26 protests.

As Pakistan’s political landscape continues to evolve, the ATC’s warrant for Aleema Khan serves as a reminder of the intersection between legal accountability and political activity, highlighting the intensified monitoring of PTI’s public figures and the consequences of repeated non-compliance with court orders.
