The Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi has been successfully renovated through a collaborative effort between the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Pakistan Army. The refurbished stadium marked its return to prominence by hosting the 68th DHA National Hockey Championship 2024, which featured fierce competition and high drama.
The newly renovated facility quickly proved its worth, as it hosted fourteen teams for the national championship. In a thrilling final, Pakistan Customs triumphed over Mari Petroleum with a narrow 10-9 victory, securing the championship title. Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi, graced the final as the chief guest, distributing awards and highlighting the importance of hockey as Pakistan’s national sport. He called for continued support for the sport’s development from all stakeholders.

The tournament’s semi-finals were equally intense, with Pakistan Customs taking on National Bank, and Mari Petroleum competing against the Air Force. The final match, which attracted a large crowd, underscored the ongoing popularity of hockey in Karachi.
The renovation of the stadium marks a significant milestone for Pakistani hockey, providing a modern venue capable of hosting both national and international events. The project, which had long been awaited for technical and quality improvements, was completed thanks to the joint efforts of the PHF and Pakistan Army.
