A size comparison between modern cruise ships with the Titanic.

Share

The Titanic was the largest ship in the world when it was built, which was a remarkable achievement for its time. Titanic was noted for its vastness, holding 3,353 passengers in total, including 900 staff members. However, there are some noticeable variations when we contrast it with modern cruise ships.

The present “Wonder of the Seas” cruise ship is 1,187 feet long compared to Titanic’s 882 feet, which makes it roughly 35% longer. It also offers a maximum passenger capacity of 8,000 people. But it is vital to remember that the Wonder of the Seas is a lot bigger than most contemporary cruise ships. The Titanic is equivalent in length to many of the cruise ships of the present. It is inadequate in terms of both breadth and height, though.

The Titanic was 92.5 feet wide from one side to the other. Modern cruise ships, on the other hand, are typically about 120 feet wide, making them roughly 22% larger than Titanic in this dimension. The Titanic also had just 9 passenger decks and a height of about 104 feet. Comparatively, modern cruise ships are roughly 190 feet tall on average, with 12–14 passenger decks, effectively doubling the height of the Titanic.

In conclusion, the Titanic was a magnificent ship for her day, but modern cruise ships, such the “Wonder of the Seas,” are larger than it. These contemporary ships have more decks and can carry a lot more passengers because they are broader, longer, and higher.
