Punjab Allocates Millions to Renovate Shrines and Mosques

The Punjab Auqaf Department has approved development schemes worth over Rs. 50 million for shrines and mosques across the province under the ADP 2025-26.

According to official documents, Rs. 10 million has been allocated for renovation work at Dargah Shah Chiragh. The shrine will receive fresh fresco work inside, and old lime plaster on the exterior will be removed.

The shrine of Shah Sufair in Sohawa, Jhelum, has been allocated Rs. 20 million. The development includes construction of boundary walls around the Langar Khana, renovation of ablution facilities and washrooms, and excavation, leveling, and filling of the surrounding area.

In Okara, Rs. 10 million has been approved for development work at Jamia Masjid Usmania. The project focuses on improving basic facilities for worshippers, ensuring a better experience for the community.

Additional funds have been allocated to upgrade the Langar Khana and library at the shrine of Baba Farid in Pakpattan. These projects aim to enhance facilities for visitors while preserving important religious sites in Punjab.

Punjab Auqaf Chief Administrator Ehsan Bhutta said the schemes would be completed in the near future. He emphasized that the department’s goal is to provide improved amenities to devotees while safeguarding the province’s religious and spiritual heritage.

Officials highlighted that these initiatives are part of Punjab’s broader efforts to support historic and culturally significant religious sites. The projects are expected to create a safer, more welcoming environment for visitors across the province.
