The son of an Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge has been officially forgiven in a recent accident case in the capital, authorities confirmed on Friday. The case involved a road accident in Islamabad, which had drawn public attention due to the parties involved.
Reports indicate that the victim’s family accepted an apology and compensation, leading to an amicable resolution outside the courtroom. Legal experts note that such settlements are permissible under Pakistani law, allowing victims to pardon offenders in certain cases.
The incident had caused a stir on social media, with many expressing concern over accountability and justice. However, officials clarified that the forgiveness was voluntary and legally valid, ensuring the case could not proceed further.
Police confirmed that all formalities regarding the case closure were completed after the victim’s consent. They emphasized that the decision followed proper legal procedures, including documentation of the settlement and verification of compensation provided.
The Islamabad High Court did not intervene in the settlement, as the forgiveness fell within the legal rights of the victim’s family. Lawyers said that such resolutions are common in road accident cases and can often prevent prolonged legal proceedings.
While the case has been legally closed, it has reignited discussions about road safety and the responsibilities of drivers, regardless of social or judicial status. Authorities continue to urge citizens to exercise caution on roads to avoid accidents and disputes.
