Speaking at the Prime Minister’s House, Sharif met with business leaders and representatives of all bidding companies. He said the PIA Privatisation process is proceeding smoothly and aims to revive the airline as a competitive carrier. Sharif expressed confidence that new management would improve PIA’s image and focus on growth. He also highlighted the airline’s slogan: “Great People to Fly With.”
Sharif noted that reviving international flights would benefit overseas Pakistanis and boost the country’s tourism sector. According to the Privatisation Commission, PIA will be sold this year, but buyers will not receive any government guarantees.
Participants welcomed the government’s professional and transparent approach. They appreciated the effort to ensure fairness and accountability in the privatization process.
The prime minister emphasized that the process will be open, and the live broadcast will allow the public to witness the bidding. This step is expected to strengthen investor confidence and maintain transparency throughout the transaction.
Officials said the new management is expected to implement modern aviation standards and focus on improving service quality. The government aims for a smooth transition that benefits both the airline and the aviation sector in Pakistan.
