Ishaq Dar Reviews Foreign Policy, Peace Priorities

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed senior officials to formulate strategies to address emerging regional and global challenges while safeguarding Pakistan’s national interests.

Dar chaired a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where officials reviewed upcoming official visits, regional developments, and the country’s key foreign policy priorities.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister emphasized the need to protect Pakistan’s national interests while continuing to contribute to regional and global peace and security through active diplomacy.

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace despite internal and external security challenges.

Addressing the passing-out parade of the 125th Midshipman and 33rd Short Service Commission Course at the Pakistan Naval Academy PNS Rahbar, the prime minister described Pakistan as a globally recognized contributor to peace and stressed the growing importance of regional stability amid changing global dynamics.

Shehbaz Sharif also referred to the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, describing it as a matter of national pride. He said the agreement was made possible through Pakistan’s mediation efforts with the support of friendly countries.

The prime minister praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in advancing regional peace, saying the military chief worked tirelessly to support Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif commented on the broader impact of conflicts, saying wars often create new and unforeseen challenges.

In a post on X, Khawaja Asif noted that the Strait of Hormuz was not initially viewed as a major concern when the conflict began, but has since emerged as a key issue affecting regional stability and global shipping.
