High Octane Fuel demand in Pakistan reached a new record in November 2025, reflecting changing consumer preferences and improved market dynamics. According to data shared by Topline Securities, sales of High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) surged to an all-time high of 35,000 tons during the month. This sharp rise shows a clear shift in fuel consumption patterns, especially among drivers of modern and turbo-engine vehicles.
Analysts said the main reason behind the increase is competitive pricing. The price gap between regular Motor Spirit (MS) and High Octane Fuel has narrowed in recent months. This smaller difference has encouraged more motorists to switch to premium fuel for better engine performance and smoother driving. The trend has grown stronger as fuel prices continue to adjust in the domestic market.
The record sales came just after the government announced fresh reductions in major petroleum product prices. On Sunday, the price of Motor Spirit was cut by Rs2.00 per litre. The new rate now stands at Rs263.45 per litre, compared to the earlier price of Rs265.45. The government also reduced the rate of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs4.79 per litre, bringing it down to Rs279.65 from Rs284.44.
The petroleum division said the revised prices aim to provide relief to consumers as international oil prices fluctuate. Officials noted that these adjustments are part of an ongoing effort to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market.
Experts believe the combination of reduced prices and a shrinking cost difference between MS and High Octane Fuel has played a major role in pushing HOBC sales to record levels. They expect demand to remain strong if the pricing trend continues and more consumers prioritise engine efficiency.
